"BE AWAREnI am a former client. My case was represented as resolved months ago, but I have not received payment of my settlement and I have not been provided documentation showing where funds were disbursed or under what written authorization.nnI repeatedly requested my client file, settlement paperwork, and an accounting in order to understand what occurred. Those requests went unanswered for an extended period of time.nnClients should be aware that clear communication, written authorizations, and timely access to their own case records are essential. My experience raised serious concerns for me, and I would strongly advise anyone considering this firm to insist on receiving everything in writing and to closely track settlement paperwork and disbursements."

"**Review of California Employment Counsel (Raymond & Nick Hane)**n⭐☆☆☆☆nnI’m extremely disappointed in my experience with California Employment Counsel, particularly Raymond and Nick Hane. My case was settled over two months ago, and to this day, I have not received my portion of the settlement. What’s worse, I later discovered they had been filing paperwork behind my back—without my knowledge or approval.nnI trusted this firm to represent me with integrity, but instead I felt left in the dark and misled. When I began asking questions about the status of my funds and the paperwork submitted on my behalf, I was met with silence, excuses, and confusion. It appeared that they were trying to take more than what was fair—something no client should ever have to worry about with their legal representation.nnI have since taken action to represent myself and have removed them from my case entirely. I would strongly caution anyone considering this firm to proceed with extreme care, keep records of everything, and never assume that your best interest is being protected.nnThis is my honest account of what happened, and I’m sharing it so others don’t go through the same thing.nn---"

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Employment Law legal services in Costa Mesa, CA.

Employment attorneys in Costa Mesa commonly handle cases involving wrongful termination, workplace discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation, and wage and hour violations. California law provides strong protections for employees in each of these areas, and an employment lawyer can help evaluate whether your rights have been violated.
California is an at-will employment state, meaning employers can generally terminate employees for any lawful reason — but not for an illegal one, such as discrimination, retaliation, or whistleblowing. If you were fired shortly after reporting misconduct, filing a complaint, or taking protected leave, those circumstances may warrant a closer legal review.
California law prohibits harassment based on protected characteristics such as race, gender, age, disability, religion, and sexual orientation, among others. Employees who experience harassment have the right to report it internally and, if unresolved, to file a complaint with the California Civil Rights Department or pursue legal action.
Deadlines, known as statutes of limitations, vary depending on the type of claim. For many harassment and discrimination claims, you typically must first file a complaint with a state or federal agency within a set time period before pursuing a lawsuit, so acting promptly is important. Consulting with an employment attorney as soon as possible helps ensure you do not miss a critical deadline.
Fee structures vary by firm and by the nature of the case, so there is no single answer that applies universally. It is best to ask the firm directly about how they handle fees and billing so you have a clear understanding before moving forward with representation.
